QIGONG EXPERIENCE: In addition to meditation and yoga, Qigong is a huge part of my spiritual practice to become a more conscious human being. I feel more peaceful, energetic, focused, grounded, balanced etc. Qigong practice also has helped me tremendously in working on my patients. My patients ask me "what do you have in your hands?".. It is healing Qi!!
I was treating a patient with Craniosacral Therapy who was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. As a part of treatment for RSD, I taught him Qigong as his home exercise program to cope with his symptoms. Not only did he have faith in me from his previous therapy for his severe neck pain, but also he was compliant with his practice. He found a perfect, peaceful place in his garden to do Qigong! In this particular Qigong form, "Earth Hands," he gathers the universal Qi with his hands and delivers this healing energy back to his Lower Extremities. Qi also flows between palms. He shared this with me,"Ryoko, I started feeling this sensation [of energy] between my hands!"(with a huge smile from him). It felt like a miracle to see him walking normal again, but I know Qigong and his openness to the practice was part of his healing.
