At its essence, Qigong is a process of deeply connecting with ourselves, so that we may access our body's innate wisdom and capacity for healing. For me, the practice of Qigong has been a journey of returning to this sense of Wholeness. "Qi" means "internal energy, breath of life." In Qigong, we re-learn how to breathe. It is our breath that is the gateway to remembering and reclaiming... our deep connection with ourselves, with others and with Spirit. Through Qigong, we not only revisit our "health" in a traditional sense, but we become who we truly are.
Qigong practitioners quickly realize benefits on a physical, emotional and spiritual level, as practice brings a sense of balance to the whole of our being. Qigong increases our Qi, and fosters an awareness of how to feel and to master the flow of this energy in the body. Qigong provides us with the tools to decrease stress and tension, promote relaxation, optimize health, and increase our physical and mental capabilities, stamina, and longevity. Specifically, experimental evidence suggests the following healing effects of Qigong exercises and meditations on overall physical health: Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Immune System, Circulation, Brain, Musculoskeletal, Chronic Pain, Mental Health.
I am currently teaching private and group lessons by appointment. I am also teaching weekly classes at the Y.W.C.A., Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.
