The practice of Qigong greatly enhances my being present in body and mind - making me feel more connected and joyful. As I keep practicing and teaching Qigong my experience keeps intensifying.
As an art therapist I combine creative expression, breathing and movement. Working per diem on an inpatient psychiatric ward I recently had the joyful experience of the healing power of Qigong with a client. Instead of a talk-group I decided to do a Qigong session with 5 women. One of them had asked - unbeknownst to me - for pain medication just before the group started. The nurse did not want to interrupt the group, but brought in the medication after we ended. To everyone's surprise the woman who had asked for the pain med told him with a big smile that she no longer needed it!
This past semester I started each class with the art therapy students at Southwestern College with Qigong, teaching one new movement every class. It turned out to be a positive experience for all.
